Sierra de Cazorla - Spain's largest natural park. An absolute must!
Declared Biosphere Reserve and Special Protection Area for Birds back in the 80's, this immense and superbly dramatic natural park is home to a landscape of rocky peaks, sheer cliffs and gorges, vast pine forests, magnificent waterfalls, and at it's heart, one of the largest reservoirs in the region. The park is also birthplace to the Guadalquivir river, life source of mediaeval Andalucia. Going with the flow of seasonal change, great interpretive local guiding will take you on selected routes to the best birding hotspots of the moment. Keep your eyes open for the Lammergeier as well as other large raptors. A wonderful array of fauna and flora, including 24 endemic plants, and a noteworthy 130 species of butterfly, underline the wealth of this natural park! As I said - an absolute must!
Sierra Magina - Domain of the Golden Eagle
Known as Mountain of the Spirits in Moorish times, and at a majestic 7,100 feet - the highest peak of the province, the Natural Park offers the most spectacular views across lands replete with olive groves. Home to an exceptionally high density of Golden Eagles, as well as other soaring raptors, the highland slopes and meadowlands bear witness to some truly remarkable botany.
4x4 transport will get you to the best, truly-unspoilt vantage points, whether it be to repose and take in the glorious, open surroundings, or venture out on short excursions of mild difficulty, discovering an array of wildlife along the way. Great local guiding through this collosus of a sierra will assure you of the best to be seen on the day, along with the story behind the story- be it nature, or the life and lore of this land.
Do you consider a friendly atmosphere, comfort and relaxation, as well as value for money, an essential part of any well earned holiday? If you do, then all our birding and nature tours have been specifically designed to suit you!
